Cultures converge at Wa harvest festival

For two-thousand years, Burma's Wa ethnic minority have been ringing in the harvest season with the festival of Kauk Thit Sar Pwe.

The celebration was banned under military rule, as the post-1988 military junta silenced many ethnic traditions.

Now, the Wa harvest festival is being celebrated again, with aspects of both traditional animist ceremony and the Christian beliefs left behind by British colonialists.
