Vanessa Amorosi - Melbourne Blues Festival 2003
- 16 years ago
This is a performance by a 21 year old Vanessa Amorosi at the of Melbourne International Music And Blues Festival in February 2003. ["In The Basement" was done by Etta James in 1966.] I put this little slideshow together to showcase Ms. Amorosi's abilities as a singer.
Vanessa Amorosi from Melbourne has impressed me with astounding vocal capablities since the Opening Ceremonies of the Olympic Games in Sydney. She has tremendous range (technically a "spinto soprano" with a three octave range and a forte for "chest notes" in the upper registers) and, in her best stuff, a rock/blues approach the draws a lot of comparisons to Janis Joplin. She has an album called SOMEWHERE IN THE REAL WORLD soon to be released. I know little about the album, but I'll be following her career.
