It’s the only aqueduct in the middle of the city, and was built during the reign of the Roman Emperor Valens in the 4 th century. It connected the third and fourth hills of the city, and its end was a big well near the university; from where the water was distributed to the imperial palaces. The an-cient two-storey aqueduct is 26m high, and used to be 1000m long; but today only 800m remain.
