Great Boxing Drama Movie: Prison Shadows (1936)

Prison Shadows is a funny, hodgepodge old boxer movie that has all the elements of ridiculousness which fans of old film can’t get enough of. Gene Harris goes to prison for killing his opponent in the ring, though he doesn’t understand how it happened. Out on parole, his shady manager advertizes him as “Killer Harris,” and wants to make extra money off Gene’s ill gotten reputation. Gene is a good guy, who likes donuts (dunked), his faithful dog, and his not-so-faithful fiancé, Claire. It even turns out that Claire wants Gene to get a reputation for killing his opponents to add publicity! This cartoonish silliness is all part of the fun in Prison Shadows, which features slick boxing scenes and evil plotting villains that never lets up on the entertainment.
