Trailer for the flag-waving World War II classic, BOMBARDIER (1943), starring Randolph Scott, Pat O'Brien, Ann Shirley, Barton MacLane and Robert Ryan.
Though the film and it's top-flight cast spend most of their time stateside detailing the dangers and demands of bombardier school training (filmed at Kirtland Army Air Field, Ne wMexico, BOMBARDIER culminates in a mission over the enemy's own country and the post-mission heroics that follow.
Aside from being a box-office blockbuster, the film received an Oscar nomination for Best Special Effects.
Actor Richard Martin (1917-1994) portrayed a young, half-Irish half-Mexican cadet named "Chito Rafferty" in BOMBARDIER. Apparently, the character went over well with audiences, as RKO scripters resurrected the character/name for all of Martin's sidekick duties in westerns with Robert Mitchum, James Warren and Tim Holt.
