Arizona Senator John McCain called on presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump to make amends with veterans after his comment towards the former prisoner of war in which he said, "I prefer people who weren't captured." “When he said, ‘I don’t like people who were captured,’ then there’s a body of American heroes that I’d like to see him retract that statement," McCain told CNN. McCain's comments add to the already immense pressure on the Trump campaign to mend fences with political foes he alienated across the Republican party.
