(all rights of any material used to the relevant parties) The Unforgiven (Burt Lancaster, Audrey Hepburn) Having recently watched the unforgiven I thought I would offer my opinion & review to interested persons. The unforgiven is the only western that Audrey Hepburn appeared in during her career. The story revolves around Rachael (Audrey Hepburn) who has been taking into a family as a foundling. Classic screen actress Lillian Gish plays the matriach who keeps a secret of Rachael having been taken as a baby from a massacred Indian village. The secret is kept from the rest of the family & all is well after moving to a new area. That is until a ghost from the past arrives & exposes the secret to the families new community. Rachael has been popular & well loved by everyone until peoples prejudices & racism are brought to the fore on learning her secret. The film is well worth the time even for people who are not a fan of the western genre, as it explores issues that though not as widespread or accepted today are still present. The film also shows off the versatility of Audrey Hepburn as an actress & shows her performing her own horse riding scenes. A very good film that even people who don't generally watch this type of movie should also enjoy. 4/5. Music : dark angel blue rodeo.
