Old Korean dude disrupts flight over yoga, winds up in federal prison

HONOLULU — Possibly needing a vacation from his vacation, one man on a Honolulu-Tokyo flight was so anxious to do yoga it actually made him violent.
The Honolulu Star Advertiser reports that the incident started during meal service onboard the United Airlines flight, when federal authorities say 72-year-old Hyongtae Pae refused to stay in his seat. Ignoring the cabin crew's orders, the FBI alleges in a criminal complaint that he headed to the galley in the back of the plane to meditate and do yoga.
Pae reportedly flew into a rage when his wife and some flight attendants tried to stop him. When some Marines on the flight tried to restrain him, he allegedly attempted to bite and head-butt them. The plane eventually turned back after the pilot was informed of the disruptive passenger.
Pae was arrested and is being held on a $25,000 bond at the Honolulu Federal Detention Center. He is not allowed to leave the island of Oahu and is required to undergo mental evaluation.
His lawyer told the Associated Press that he is a retired farmer from South Korea and came to Hawaii to celebrate his 40th wedding anniversary. He repotedly took up yoga only recently to help with anxiety.
