The words Tommy John are forever synonymous with devastating throwing injuries in major league baseball, but Motus Global has designed a unique system that will give teams and players an advantage in the fight against season-ending injuries. The company, which produces biomechanic analysis tools, recently released the motusPRO and motusBASEBALL systems this year. The PRO version will only be available to MLB teams and comes equipped with five sensors that are strategically placed on a pitcher, or batter's, back; arm; elbow and inside of the cleat. After every pitch (or hit), the system sends data via Bluetooth to an iOS device for analysis. Company CTO Ben Hansen says his product will allow teams to collect useful biomechanical data without burdening the players.
