A 1945 propaganda short produced by the US Department of Treasury, MR. AND MRS. AMERICA urged citizens to support the war effort by buying and keeping war bonds.
Mr. and Mrs. America contains a series of messages from prominent figures in American life, including Franklin D. Roosevelt, the presidents of the AFL, CIO, US Chamber of Commerce, and Secretary of the Treasury Henry Morgenthau, Jr. as well as testimonies from "everyday" Americans. In between these messages there are montages of combat footage underscoring the need for Americans' financial support to achieve victory. Popular Oscar and Golden Globe-nominated screen and television star, Eddie Albert, also appears as a combat soldier at the film's conclusion.
