Amusing footage has emerged from China of a new couple trying to get married, only to be given a divorce certificate instead by mistake.

The video, filmed in Wuhan, Hubei Province last Sunday, shows the number on new couple‘s "marriage certificate" which is actually a certificate of divorce.

When they eventually found about the comical error, staff at the registry office apologised, explaining that someone who used to work in the divorce registration department printed out the wrong form by mistake.

Fortunately, the couple are now married.
