Anniversary: U.S. Occupation of Guantanamo Bay

113 years ago Cuba signed an indefinite treaty allocating Guantanamo Bay to the U.S. exclusively for a naval or coal mining station. In 1959, the Cuban government officially rules the occupation illegal. The U.S. continues to refuse to give back the naval base. It is one of the last outstanding issues impeding the normalization of U.S.-Cuba relations.
