CHKN is an awesome game that combines a lot of great elements from building games. It is reminiscent of Spore because you're building an animal out of body parts but the interface reminds me a bit of Besieged.
There's a bit more to the game in terms of developing a relationship with creatures and affecting their behavior. But I spend most of the time getting eaten by the creatures or running away so I didn't get very far into that.
