Jack Benny was one of many NBC Radio Stars who were enticed to switch to CBS when television came to be. The genius behind these switches (almost every NBC star except Bob Hope made the move) was Lew Wasserman, who was transforming MCA from a band booker to a top Hollywood talent agency. His pitch? By having the star own his own show, he could escape from the then 91% income tax bracket these strs were in. It worked! CBS soon becme called 'The Tiffany Network'
