岩明均原作の人気漫画を主演・染谷将太、監督・山崎貴によって二部作で実写映画化した作品。謎の寄生生物（パラサイト）がある日、海辺に流れ着いた世界を舞台に、右手に寄生したパラサイト・ミギーと共生することになった高校生・泉新一（染谷）と、ほかの寄生獣との戦いや友情、別れを描いている。
