SINJAR, IRAQ — A video posted on the Facebook wall of an anti-ISIS activist group reportedly shows ISIS militants stealing women from their families.
The militants drag are dressed in all black, heavy in numbers and well-armed. After the merciless thugs shout cries of Allahu Akhbar, they begin separating the women from the clutches of their loved ones. Many of the women in the video appear to be young girls.
In the grainy unverified footage released on December 17 by Yazidi activists, you can see the women being pulled by their clothing, arms, and even hair. Surrounded by guns and violent militants, they huddle together. The screams heard on the video are undeniably devastating to their families, who can only stand by and watch, helpless.
ISIS controls territory in Sinjar, a town in northern Iraq, where a Yazidi minority of people live. ISIS has been known to force captive women and girls into becoming sex slaves and brides, executing those who refuse. The current whereabouts and condition of the women taken captive is unknown.
