Ed Sheeran alerted his 5.5 million Instagram followers and his 16 million-strong Twitter audience Saturday night that he was "taking a break" from social media for the foreseeable future, a period that will include the singer working on his follow-up to 2014's X. Sheeran wrapped up his extensive world tour in support of X Saturday night in Auckland, New Zealand.
"I'm taking a break from my phone, emails and all social media for a while," the singer warned fans on Instagram .
Sheeran then apologized to his friends and family for "buggering off for a bit" and assured fans that "the 3rd album is on its way and is the best thing I have made thus far."
