Angry customer goes on violent anti-Muslim rampage in New York City restaurant

NEW YORK — A diner at a Manhattan restaurant demanded to know whether its South Asian employees were Muslim and how they feel about ISIS before launching a violent and hate-filled attack.

Workers at the Salt & Pepper restaurant said Robert Murino seemed drunk when he walked into the Midtown establishment on Monday night, The New York Daily News reported.

Murino ordered a pizza and later began yelling at a female employee, Lina Parvin, asking her to bring him fries — which he never ordered.

After harassing two other customers about their religious beliefs, Murino allegedly turned on a male employee who was manning the counter. The irate diner spewed hate-filled words about Muslims before hitting him on the head.

Murino was forced out of the restaurant, but came back and threw three chairs at the food counter, smashing the glass partition, according to CBS New York.

Parvin called police as she hid behind the counter. She then went with police around the block to find the angry customer, spotting him at a pizza place nearby.

Murino was arrested and charged with criminal mischief and assault as a hate crime.

He had previously been arrested in 2008 for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest during a fight in Midtown.
