Personat qe vuajnë nga sëmundje te pashërueshme kane nevoje jo vetëm për kujdes mjekësor, por edhe për t'iu qëndruar pranë për shkak te problemeve psiko-sociale apo ekonomike.
Por kjo asistence, qe ndryshe njihet si kujdesi paliativ, ne Shqipëri është e mangët, kryesisht për shkak te mungesës se fondeve. Janë rreth 3500 paciente ne vit qe kërkojnë asistence te këtij lloji dhe nevojitet një staf prej 320 personash. Ne Shqipëri kujdesi paliativ ofrohet nga tre OJF dhe nga një strukture pranë spitalit onkologjik. Por trajtimi le jashtë rreth 70% te pacienteve për te cilët shtrimi ne spital nuk është me një zgjidhje. I njohur pak dhe se fundmi ne Shqipëri kujdesi paliativ nuk ka vëmendjen dhe financimin e duhur. Ne Ministrinë e Shëndetësisë nuk ka asnjë projekt konkret për t`u ardhur ne ndihme këtyre te sëmurëve ne lehtësimin e dhimbjes ditët e fundit te jetës.

But this assistance, otherwise known as palliative care, lacking in Albania is mainly due to lack of funds. There are about 3500 patients per year who require assistance of this type and requires a staff of 320 persons. Palliative care in Albania is provided by three NGOs and a structure near the oncological hospital. But handling let out about 70% of patients for whom hospital admission is not a solution. The little known and recently in Albania, palliative care is not the proper attention and funding.
