Zona e Vashtemise ne Korçe dhe jo Podgorica siç njihej deri tani, është vendbanimi me i hershem ne vendin tone, i periudhës se neolitit te hershem. Ky konkluzion është nxjerre nga arkeologet shqiptare dhe amerikane ne përfundim te ekspeditës 1 mujore. Arkeologet qe kryejnë gërmime prej tre vjetësh ne këtë sit arkeologjik, kane zbuluar objekte te një rëndësie te veçante. Mes tyre janë shume mjete pune prej guri dhe kocke. Një vend te rëndësishëm zënë edhe objektet e përdorura ne lashtësi për peshkim. Siti arkeologjik ne Vashtemi te Korçës zë një sipërfaqe prej afro pese dynymësh. Deri tani ne këtë zone sipas arkeologeve ishin zbuluar vetëm objekte qe datojnë 4500 vjet p.k. Ne rajonin e Korçës llogariten mbi 100 vendbanime prehistorike.
