Colombia Peace Progress Advances, but Obstacles Remain

On the third anniversary of the Colombian peace talks, analysts agree considerable progress has been made in reaching a final settlement. Agreements have been reached on four of six agenda points, mostly recently on the thorny issue of transitional justice and victim compensation. But formidable obstacles also remain, chief among them the continued presence of paramilitary forces and underdevelopment, particularly in the countryside.
