BuzzFeed journalist assaulted by far-right Jewish extremists during protest in Paris

PARIS — Protesters at a pro-Israel rally organized by far-right Jewish extremist groups assaulted France-based BuzzFeed reporter David Perrotin on Thursday night, hitting him multiple times in the head and back and forcing Perrotin to take cover behind riot police.
The attack happened at 8:00 p.m. during a standoff between pro-Israel protesters and police outside of the Paris Agence France-Presse office. Perrotin was covering the rally when one protester approached and warned Perrotin she was going to tell the JDL (Jewish Defense League), one of the protest's organizers, that he was there. Perrotin isn't exactly the JDL's favorite reporter, having previously exposed the work of the French branch of the JDL, a banned organization in Israel and the U.S.
After the conversation with the protestor, Perrotin decided to leave the crowd. As he was making his way toward toward the line of police officers in front of the AFP building, he was stopped by nearly a dozen armed men wearing helmets and carrying batons. The men struck Perrotin's head and back.
Amidst the melee, Perrotin managed to make his way to the police line. He was also struck by the police before they realized he was a reporter and let him through.
The Agence France Presse sheltered Perrotin in their building until French police escorted Perrotin out 45 minutes after he was attacked. According to Buzzfeed, Perrotin was not badly injured during the attack and plans to file a complaint with police on Friday.
