NASA scientists are currently tracking the “Great Pumpkin” as it makes its near-Earth approach. 
And, if you've got a small telescope you might even be able to see it. 
Not a Halloween spirit per se, the “Great Pumpkin” is the nickname given to asteroid 2015 TB145. It was just discovered on October 10th and will fly past Earth on Halloween.
2015 TB145 is estimated to be about 1,300 feet wide and will make its pass at about 300,000 miles from Earth.
That's the closest an object of its size will get to the Earth until 2027.
