Your wisdom teeth scientifically called your third molar usually start to grow in your mouth during late age of teenage. Sometimes, it happens that there is no enough room for them in the mouth, and in result they grow in partially or not at all. This condition and scenario can cause ‘Pericoronitis’. It is the swelling of the tissue which surrounds the tooth. In the case when only some part of the tooth has grown out into the mouth, it can form a flap of gum that can easily hold food remains and becomes a favorable place for bacteria to grow.Pericoronitis can also occur around a wisdom tooth in similar way even if the tooth has not grown out at all and is still under the gums. Which may cause the wisdom tooth infection.
