Some roles have been taken on by multiple actors, but what factors make us like one portrayal over another and are there any actors that are definitively the best in a certain role?

We discuss some of the characters played by 3 or more actors, discuss our personal favorites, and try to figure out what factors make us see those actors as the best. Plus we try to figure out what characters are intrinsically linked to the actors who play them and therefore would never properly if they were recast.
