A Race of Giants

A race of giants
Composed stoic
Firmly rooted in this country
100 thousand years
Retains the wisdom of their ancestors
Though their numbers now
Are few
All the indigenous people
Are less now than they once were
The flying people
The climbing people
The swimming tribes
The subterranean tribes

Settlers from afar
Strange in their customs
Have come instead
Noisy contentious
Partaking in trivialities
Building frivolous monuments
To the superstitions
They’ve invented

This 1 thing they do have
A highly developed capacity
For play
May the powers that be
Grant that they don’t lose this
Or all may be lost
