Tombs Of The Blind Dead [La Noche Del Terror Ciego] (1971)_pt. 1 of 2

(1971) Yes, Virginia, there is a good reason not to wander off from your friends and spend the night in a ruined monastery. It may be ruined, but it ain't exactly "abandoned" either! This Spanish-Portuguese co-production (offered here dubbed in English) introduces a band of apostate Templar knights whose evil ways granted them an unnatural afterlife as blood-drinking mummified zombies still prowling centuries after they were executed for their crimes. Not nasty enough for ya, brave hearts? Well, their eyes were pecked out by the birds while they were dangling on the gallows, so they're blind undead. Be vewwy, vewwy qwiet! They hunt by the sound of the living. Brrrrrr!

This was so popular it spawned no less than three sequels--and I think we'll find them around here somewhere, Couch Pumpkins. After all, you can't keep a good (?) ghoul down!

[AKA: "La Noche del Terror Ciego", "The Blind Dead", "Night of the Blind Dead".]
