Amazing battle between barn owl and kestrel over a nesting site. Who do you think will win? The barn owl doesn't look very powerful against the clever kestrel, but those long claws are very powerful and have a very long reach. The kestrel is highly agitated but is the barn owl frightened and in shock or is he just playing it cool? This video is also available in a longer one hour long version if required. In the end the barn owl wins the battle, the kestrel pair retreat to a different box and the barn owl attracts a mate into this box and will hopefully go on to have a brood this year.
