Hi there, Dr. Nick Jensen here from Divine Elements Naturopathic Family Wellness. I’m an integrated endocrinology expert guiding my patients to their best health with natural medicine and what I’m really excited about is teaching people how to change their nutrition lifestyle habits so they can prevent illness before it starts.
Today’s topic is insomnia and my top 3 tips to help resolve this problem, so tip number 1 is to take a look at the hormonal system through consultation and lab testing we can discover which hormones are out of balance. For example in women who have progesterone deficiency they find great relief with replacing this hormone.
Tip number 2 is to look at the nutrition intake and find which foods are problematic for the individual so people don’t often realize the kind of impact that dietary influences can have on sleep and wake cycles.
Tip number 3 is to look at your exercise as optimal melatonin secretion happens with early morning exercise and often people who were exercising late at night time often find that they don’t sleep as well.
Another problem is that people experiencing pain and using pain medication, they don’t realize that this actually also blocks the night time sleep hormone melatonin so finding alternatives to pain is a great way to help to resolve sleep issues.
So this is my top 3 tips for resolving insomnia. I’m Dr. Nick Jensen here from Divine Elements Naturopathic Family Wellness. I’m a Naturopathic Physician guiding my patients to their best health with natural medicine. Take care.
