The Blossoming Scent of Ink
Artist Song Young-bang's "The Blossoming Scent of Ink" is the second exhibition of the "Korean Modern Art Series" organized by the National Museum of Contemporary Art. Highly influenced by literati painting, where the emphasis is on the spirit, Song has been spreading the authentic beauty of Korea in a modern way. This exhibition displays a variety of artworks of the artist ranging from abstract pieces, landscape paintings, flower-and-bird paintings and even portraits.
The artist expresses the essentials of subjects as well as heartfelt Korean sentiments with minimal brush strokes. With the belief that what Koreans perceive as beautiful is perceived the same by non-Koreans as well, Song conveys the most representative ideas of Korean beauty through his India-ink painting.

Dance Embroiders Life
The International Modern Dance Festival is Korea's longest- running contemporary dance festival, which has also been leading the trends of Korean modern dance. Under the title of "Dance Embroiders Life," 23 dance teams from 7 countries displayed their wonderful artistry and also covered various social issues.
Choreographer Ryu Seok-hun's "Silent Scream," inspired by Manseokjoong Nori, which is a type of Korea's traditional shadow plays, is a prayer for each individual member of our society. Han Chang-ho's "From Fall to Winter" inspires people to reflect on their lives using the time between the fall and winter as a metaphor, while Lee Jae-young's "Rest" provides a new type of visual feast for the audience with its courageous and experimental choreography. Offering many talking points for the audience, MODAFE shows the current trend of modern dance.
