Jama Masjid is the famous attraction of Aligarh. The revered place for Muslims was constructed in 1727 by former ruler of Aligarh, Sabit Khan. Sir Syed Ahmed Khan's tomb, located within the periphery of this mosque, grabs attention of tourists.

The mosque with a capacity of 1000 people provides courses in Quranic phonetics and Qirtat round the year. Unlike other mosques, there is no madarsa in the religious centre. However, domes and minarets of the Mughal architecture are the major attractions. of the worship place.

Located in Upper Kot, this mosque lies within the campus of Aligarh Muslim University. Incidentally, parts of the Dor Fortress are also encompassed within this mosque’s area. The worship centre is accessible by public transport lying within a kilometre distance from the state highway 22A and also from the Aligarh Junction railway station.
