A musical evening, where classical vocalist Smt. Shirin Sengupta sings 'Rageshree' raga live at the Azad Bhavan auditorium. The event was organized by ICCR, Delhi.
Raga Rageshree (Rageshwari) is a Hindustani raga that has evolved and become popular in the past century. It has come to be known as the "Queen of Ragas". Rageshree often begins on Dha and most phrases end on Ma or Sa. The raaga is characterized by a meend (glide) from Dha to Ma and the popular ending phrase Ga Ma Re Sa (slight meend from Ma to Re). Raga Rageshree is very similar in its structure to Raga Bageshree. Rageshree stands apart, however, through the use of the shuddha Ga, versus Bageshree's komal Ga.
