Farhatullah Babar questions Rangers's authority

ISLAMABAD – Senator Farhatullah Babar on Wednesday has put forth a point to ponder in the Senate session asking whether Rangers operations to unmask corruption in development projects is beyond its authority or not.

The Senate session today discussed Rangers Director General (DG) revelations in the apex committee.

Babar presented a calling attention notice and insisted that the matter should be discussed without any delay. He said that the Rangers personnel conducted a raid at Karachi Building Control Authority office on June 15. Earlier the discussions of political and military leaderships used be kept under covers but now sensitive pieces of information are out in the open, he added.

Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training Baleeghur Rehman in response to the calling attention notice said that whatever Rangers authorities have revealed, Chief Minister (CM) Qaim Ali Shah would know the matter better as he is the chief of the Karachi operation.

Senator Syed Ghani said that discussions of such issues in the apex committee meetings are damaging the privileges granted to the Senate.
