Last Fighter Standing – Tri-Nations Tournament Announcement
New world sport calls for Australian, New Zealand and South African Fight Promoters

Following the world-wide announcement of a new gritty, high energy, adrenalin-pumping, international fighting tournament – Last Fighter Standing – the organisers have announced the first in a series of regional battles today. These will lead up to a definitive showdown and the crowning of new Tri-Nations champion who will have the bragging rights to be known as “The Last Fighter Standing”!

This innovative new tournament will be action-packed with no time to waste. It will put the fighters through a whole new level of personal will and determination.

"Last Fighter Standing" is not a new fighting discipline. It is a unique, global tournament that puts one country against another in a bid to find the ultimate fighting champion. It does this through the unification of all recognised fighting codes, of which there are many, under one tournament. It has very clearly defined rules and limitations that are suitable for all fighting styles. LFS, having the rules suited to all styles, will bring more spectators and combatants from all fighting disciplines, making LFS a true global platform to identify the first LFS Tri-Nations Champion.

The rules are different from other martial arts/fighting events, particularly in the time limit for taking opponents to the ground. With the 20 seconds ground rule, it makes the fights faster, more explosive, balanced and certainly more visually appealing and engaging from a spectator point of view, while giving all fighting styles an opportunity to show off their special skills.

The LFS Tri-Nations Tournament will follow a similar format to that of the avidly followed tri-nations rugby matches. Fighters from Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, who have qualified in their respective home matches, will take these countries’ legendary sporting rivalry to another level and in a format where anything goes (well… almost).

16 fighters will face off against each other in three build-up fights, which are:
• Australia vs New Zealand
• New Zealand vs South Africa
• Australia vs South Africa

The 16 winners in the same weight category from these rounds will go through to a one-night-only event to participate in the LFS Tri-Nations Championship and fight each other until only one fighter remains standing.

This being the Southern Hemisphere, spectators can expect to see a combination of traditional unarmed martial arts combat techniques like Boxing, Karate, Kick-Boxing, MMA, blended possibly with country specific techniques such as “Mau” (meaning hand-to-hand) against Coreeda – a traditional Australian folk wrestling that has been likened to the South American Capoeira – and even Japanese Sumo. The South Africans are expected to bring their “Impi” (warrior) attitudes to the party, mixing the more recognised combat methods with a truly African flavour that could include the likes of the power of “Shackle-hands” to the grace, fluidity, dexterity and instinctive rhythm of African dance fighting.

“Whichever fighting style is chosen, it won’t necessarily be strength or endurance that ultimately captures the crown,” commented Hanshi Craig Mayman, co-Founder and Director of LFS Limited and himself an ISKA Hall of Famer. “Speed, agility, intuition and anticipation at split second advantage are the skills that will see the winner triumph (and maybe just a little bit of unexpected local fighting expertise to boot)”.

LFS is “Explosive Entertainment”. It represents the pinnacle of physical skill and endurance, intelligent response and sheer determination. Given the stresses and pressures of today’s lifestyle, for the viewer, LFS affords the ideal escapist opportunity to unwind and unleash their own stress.
