Clashes between Mexico City Police and Ayotzinapa Supporters

Tuesday marked eight months since 43 students from the Ayotzinapa teacher training school were forcibly disappeared in Iguala, Guerrero. Family members and supporters held a mass march in Mexico City on a day of national and international action for justice to demand their return by the government. Marches from four points of the capital city headed for the Zocalo, but were denied entry to the plaza by the Mexico City police. They then changed their destination to Alameda Park, where protesters burned campaign propaganda for the June 7 elections. Clashes with police resulted in the arrests of three demonstrators. Families of the disappeared students are calling for a boycott of the elections based on government collusion with organized crime and a failure to produce the disappeared students alive.
