00:00There's something I want you to see.
00:07He took me to what Indians called the Land of Petrified Wood.
00:13There, carved in a rock, were drawings of a creature with big hands and big feet,
00:21exactly as I'd heard Bigfoot described.
00:25The drawings were 700 years old.
00:30They told how creatures the Indians called stickman
00:34had come in the night and stolen the Indian children.
00:39The Indians abandoned the village in fear.
00:55First the ranchers, now my brother-in-law.
00:58My head was reeling with Bigfoot.
01:06But stories are just so many words, so I soon forgot about them,
01:11till I was up tracking a mountain lion.
01:14And I found these tracks.
01:17They looked much like human footprints, but they were 18 inches long,
01:236 1⁄2 across the ball of the foot, 5 1⁄2 at the heel.
01:28They were the hugest I'd ever seen.
01:32The tracks were so deep they had to have been made by at least a 500-pound animal.
01:41And the hair, I couldn't identify it.
01:46The toe prints were spread around small rocks and dug into the earth,
01:51showing whatever made them could cover pretty rugged country.
01:55And the stride was enormous, 52 inches in length.
02:01Man's only 30.
02:03If they were fakes, somebody would have had to drag a pretty big machine
02:07over pretty rough country to make them, and they would have left their own tracks.
02:13And I saw where a creature had stumbled.
02:17It was a handprint.
02:20No sign of claws.
02:23They were so manlike.
02:27I was mystified, so I made plaster casts
02:31and sent them with the hair to a lab for analysis.
02:38Well, I tell you, I was glad to get home.
02:42Our pups were growing, and they didn't give us much time
02:46to think about everything that had happened.
02:50I was cold to chase a renegade bear up north.
02:53This time, I wasn't so eager to return to the mountains.
02:57But I had a plan.
03:00I had a plan.
03:02I had a plan.
03:04I had a plan.
03:06I had a plan.
03:08I had a plan.
03:10I had a plan.
03:12I had a plan.
03:14I had a plan.
03:16This time, I wasn't so eager to return to the mountains.
03:20Tests had shown the hair samples and tracks
03:23couldn't be matched with any known animal.
03:28I was uncomfortable.
