As Narendra Modi completes 365 days in office, it’s time to take a closer look at what has been brewing in the aviation sector for the past one year. All the tall promises made to the aviation industry have turned false and with carriers bleeding and struggling to stay afloat, none of the plans seem to be taking off. Carriers want the government to rationalize the tax structure and privatize airports to boost infrastructure needs. The Modi government has shown little urgency to even spell out a plan for the bleeding national carrier Air India. Will the turbulent times continue for the sector or are there clear skies ahead?
