Strong winds in a community near Winnipeg created a 30-foot ice wave that surged off of Lake Dauphin and crashed into dozens of homes, destroying 12 and damaging 15.
Homeowners said they heard the wall of ice coming before it crashed into their houses. The entire event took place in a matter of minutes but, thankfully, no one was injured. Hundreds of local residents pitched in the next day to help chip away the ice surrounding their homes.
