Two Philippine Air Force pilots are missing after their plane crashed off the coast of Palawan province on Sunday. The plane, an OV-10 Bronco, took off from Puerto Princesa City airport in Palawan at 6:37pm as part of a night proficiency flying mission.
The pilot, preparing to land, contacted the control tower five nautical miles from the airfield.
The ground support aircraft is then believed to have crashed into the water, according to an Air Force spokesperson. A Philippine Coast Guard boat crew found the detached nose of the aircraft early Monday morning. The identities of the pilot and copilot of the aircraft have yet to be revealed by Air Force officials.
