Earthquake-proof desk designed to save lives

Two Israeli inventors have come up with a design for an earthquake proof table they hope could save thousands of lives in quake-prone developing countries. Arthur Brutter and Ido Bruno aim to provide affordable protection to schoolchildren living in such country.

The steel and birch desk is engineered to to take the force of collapsing buildings during an earthquake, absorbing the impact while deflecting debris away from those sheltering underneath.
