A 31-year-old Chicago woman is undergoing psychiatric evaluation after she boarded a commuter train on Sunday afternoon and began slapping people before demanding they get off so she could drive the train.
Witnesses say they saw the nude woman jump a turnstile just after 1 p.m. She then boarded the red 'L' train at Granville station, began shouting and allegedly slapped several passengers.
She announced to the carriage that she intended to take over the train's controls, prompting several people to call 911. She is also understood to have told commuters, she was "Goddess of the train."
After delaying traffic on the red line for 15 minutes, she was handcuffed, taken away by police and admitted to St. Francis Hospital for evaluation.
The as yet unidentified woman is reportedly known to police and has a history of mental illness.
