A 27-year-old Malaysian policeman went on a shooting spree on Monday, injuring his former girlfriend's brother after she ended their relationship.

According to a local report, the couple broke up on November 13.

The woman, 26-year-old Josephine Tholilali Tholan, ended their relationship on the advice of her family who thought her boyfriend drank a lot and had a bad temper, the Star reported.

Four days after she broke up with him, he threatened to kill her.
On November 18 the man went to her Taman Megah house in Sungai Jelok to look for her, but her mother told him she wasn't there.

The man returned with a gun and shot it three times in the air, asking to be let into the compound.

He then climbed over the front gate and shattered the front window with the gun.

After trying to enter the house through the window's bars, which were too narrow for him to fit through, he fired two shots through the window and hit the woman's brother, who was inside.

He then opened fire at the brother's white car parked in front of the house before speeding off on his motorcycle.

The girl's brother was sent to a local hospital and admitted to the intensive care unit. He was reported to be in stable condition.

According to the Star, Tholilali Tholan's former boyfriend was spotted on his motorcycle in Jalan Cempaka Putih at about 11:30 a.m.

"We will investigate further into the suspect's background and his motive," Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said.
