Chinese woman hangs herself after gambling her money away

A 27-year-old Chinese woman surnamed Lin hanged herself in a house and was found by her 4-year-old son on Wednesday. Lin became gambled whenever she visited her son and husband in Hong Kong from Shenzhen. She has lost over 50,000 USD in her gambling addiction. Her husband caught her sneaking out to gamble again few days ago and threatened to divorce her. The woman hanged herself at the house early Wednesday morning when her husband was working in mainland China.
What started as a once-in-a-while hobby turned into serious addiction when Lin put aside all her responsibilities as a mother and a wife. She had to ask her mother-in-law to look after her son while she spent endless nights at private casinos. Eventually, she lost all her personal saving, dowries and even all of her husband's earning.
At 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, her 4-year-old son woke up to look for Lin but only found her dead body hanging by a white nylon rope by one of the windows. The boy cried hysterically for help and neighbors called the police afterwards.
According to sources, the woman could get her Hong Kong residency card in less than two months but her gambling addiction dashed that dream.
