Smartphone addicts getting head slings
More and more young smartphone addicts are getting their heads put in slings simply because they spend too much time, head down, playing on smartphones and tablets. Doctors point out that phone addiction may cause neck and shoulder pain, and in the worst cases, can cause slipped discs or bulging vertebrae.

Some addicts admit obsessing on mobile phone games like Candy Crush and will spend several hours on their mobiles after work.

Physiotherapists say cervical traction can pull and stretch the spinal vertebrae, helping to reduce the pressure on nerves. They also suggest people experiencing shoulder pain and numbness in their hands go to see their doctor as soon as possible.

Bulging intervertebral discs that pressure nerves may damage nerves and cause arm muscles to atrophy, affecting a person's ability to raise their arms.
