NYC Mayor De Blasio speeds, runs stop signs after traffic safety speech

The rules of the road are different for New York Mayor Bill de Blasio. Just days after he vowed to crack down on dangerous driving, his caravan was caught on video violating multiple traffic safety laws by a WCBS-TV/Channel 2 news team.

De Blasio's Grand Theft Auto-style behavior came only two days after he announced his "Vision Zero" plan to end traffic deaths in New York. The plan includes lowering the speed limit and rolling out more cameras to catch people speeding and running red lights.

"We've put a very bold plan before you, and we want the public to know we're holding ourselves to this standard — and we intend to achieve these goals," he said at the Tuesday press conference, according to the New York Post.

The WCBS-TV/Channel 2 news crew tailed the mayor's two-SUV caravan after he held a media event on Thursday about potholes in Queens and filmed it speeding and breaking multiple traffic safety laws.

In an article published on its website, Channel 2 tallied the number of points Hizzoner would have racked up had he been been a normal person:

"Driving or rolling through a stop sign: 3 points;
Driving or rolling through a stop sign a second time: 3 points;
Going 10 miles per hour over a 30 mile per hour speed limit: 3 points;
Going 15 miles per hour over a 45 mile per hour speed limit: 4 points."

In New York, your license can be suspended if you accumulate 11 points. The mayor's jaunt through Queens would have been good for 14 points.
