Elevator fail: Man injured after elevator shoots up 30 floors into roof

A Chilean man was seriously injured after an elevator malfunctioned and shot up rapidly from the first floor to the 31st floor and crashed into the building's roof.
Jose Vergara Acevedo entered the elevator on the first floor of a complex at Bustamante Community Park in Providencia last Friday.
Things immediately go wrong when the elevator begins to rise even before the doors shut.
Acevedo can then be seen attempting to push several buttons on the elevator's control panel. The elevator ascended more than 30 floors in 15 seconds. After reaching the 31st floor, the elevator crashed into the building's roof.
Acevedo reportedly suffered head and leg injuries. The building appears to have been finished just eight months ago. The elevator was in the Tower B building of the complex.
