Man staying 2 floors below shooter recalls horrors of Las Vegas shooting

Original airdate 12/2/2017 | LAS VEGAS - A Salisbury Township man arrived in Las Vegas Sunday evening for a week-long work conference. Several hours later he had a firsthand view of the deadly chaos.

"Boom, boom, boom, boom. Each one of those sections there was about 20-25 shots. Would stop for a few seconds and then heard more," Ben Sweeney told 69 News Monday via Skype.

Sweeney is on the 30th floor of Las Vegas's Mandalay Bay Hotel, just two floors down and one room over from where police say Stephen Paddock, 64, opened fire at a country music concert.

Sweeney says he had virtually the same view as the gunman. He says at the time of the shooting, he had no idea if the bullets were coming from inside or outside hotel.

"I actually jumped in the tub because I didn't know what else to do. I went to the tub and I started hearing helicopters and I came back and the helicopters were shinning lights pretty much right at me at one point," he said.

Sweeney said he was so close to the shooter's room he could hear police breach it early Monday morning.
