Florida man hosting a welcome home party for his newborn was killed by a stray bullet Tuesday

Just three days after becoming a father, 33-year-old Steven Justin Ayers gathered with friends and family in his Florida home celebrating their bundle of joy when a stray bullet entered the home from more than 200 feet away, struck Ayers in the back of the head and killed him instantly.
Police arrested 62-year-old Charles Shisler, who lives in the house adjacent to Ayers. According to reports, Shisler had been drinking and picked up his loaded 9mm handgun by the trigger.
When police arrived on the scene, Shisler was uncooperative and belligerent, arrest reports said. Eventually, he confessed the shooting was accidental and told police where he hid the weapon.
Shisler was charged with manslaughter and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Ironically, his prior felony conviction back in 2006 was for carrying a concealed firearm.
According to reports, Shisler's blood alcohol level four hours after the shooting was .079. The legal limit for driving in Florida is .08.
If he wasn't sober enough to operate a vehicle, it's safe to assume Shisler was in no condition to be toying around with a gun.
