Passengers of Qantas flight 94 were given a fright as the cabin was flooded with water after a pipe burst on Wednesday, July 2.

Qantas flight 94, an Airbus A380, took off from Los Angeles International Airport at 12:14 a.m., according to aircraft tracking website Flightaware.com.

One hour into the trip, water started leaking from the upper deck. In the lower cabin, water dripped from the ceiling. The seats and aisles became soaked.

"All of a sudden, people started jumping up and yelling because all this water was coming basically in the middle of the aircraft," passenger Ken Cross said during an interview with ABC 7.

The source of the leak was a drinking water tank. According to Flight Global, the Airbus A380 can carry up to 2.5 tonnes of water.

Although the leak was said not to pose any safety threat, the jet returned to Los Angeles. The Australian airline is now working with Airbus to investigate the cause of the pipe leak.
