Another person has been arrested for leaving a helpless child in a hot vehicle in as many days, but unlike the Georgia man who blatantly left his son to die in his truck "in order to lead a child free life", Gloria Elzy contends that she made a dreadful mistake that almost cost the life of her child.
On July 1st, She went to a Slidell, Louisiana strip mall to do a little shopping. She claims to have forgotten that her 5 month old baby was asleep in the backseat, after having dropped her other kids off at a nearby friend's place. Luckily a passerby was alert enough to do something about the situation.
The police arrived and wasted no time in trying to get the door to Elzy's car open. Soon, a large crowd forms. Wondering what all the commotion is around her car, she runs outside...and straight into a pair of handcuffs, as paramedics rush her baby, now unresponsive, to the hospital.
Elzy's infant was treated for extreme heat exposure and will suffer no lasting effects from the ordeal, however Gloria Elzy was arrested for 2nd degree child cruelty. She also had an outstanding warrant in St Tammany Parish, and will be remanded into their custody soon.
